George Michael to play Mardi Gras party

George MichaelPop star George Michael has been confirmed to play at the party for Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this Saturday. He joins a line-up which will include David Guetta, Kelly Rowland and Adam Lambert.

According to the Wentworth Courier, an insider tells them: “At this stage it is unclear what songs he will be performing at the event, but the source said it would be the opening show of the night.”

George Michael performed last Friday to a crowd of 40,000 adoring fans and later told his crew that it was one of the most enjoyable performances on his international tour and that he got a huge buzz from the crowd in his first visit since 1988.

Several floats with a George Michael theme appeared in last Saturday’s Mardi Gras parade. The singer was not going to miss Saturday night's parade, and was invited to a VIP Foxtel party at Taylor Square but never made it - instead drinking and chatting with locals in various bars.

According to sources close to Michael, the singer has loved his time in Sydney and has no departure date set as yet.
