GLAAD awards Sykes

Chaz Bono, the cast of Glee and RuPaul were among the celebrities who joined the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) as it honoured Drew Barrymore, Wanda Sykes and the best in film, television and journalism recently at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.
The GLAAD Media Awards honour lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and allies who have increased awareness, understanding and respect for the lives of LGBT people.
Barrymore won the Vanguard Award for her efforts to increase understanding of the gay community.
Sykes, who attended with her wife, Alex, won the Stephen F. Kolzak Award for an openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender person who has made a significant difference in promoting equal rights for the LGBT community in the media.
