Lesbians’ son denied school entry

In Boston, the son of lesbian parents has been denied admission to a catholic school because of his parents’ sexuality.
The boy, 8, was to attend St. Paul Elementary School, however, the schools parish priest, the Rev. James Rafferty said the women’s relationship was "in discord" with church teachings.
The Associated Press reports that, one of the boy’s parents – who wishes to remain anonymous – believes Rafferty discussed the womens sexuality with the school's principal, Cynthia Duggan. The woman claims the school withdrew the boy’s acceptance after this conversation.
In a show of support the Boston Catholic Schools superintendent, Mary Grassa O'Neill, said in a statement she spoke with a parent of the 8-year-old boy and "offered to help enroll her child in another Catholic school in the archdiocese."
"We believe that every parent who wishes to send their child to a Catholic school should have the opportunity to pursue that dream," O'Neill said.
